President's Report

The Hawaii Steel Alliance is dedicated to monitoring and raising awareness about the challenges that the industry faces as it continues to evolve. In March, we hosted a spontaneous social gathering at the Black Shamrock Tavern, where we showcased the latest advancements in Steel Framing. The event featured abundant food and a great turnout, ensuring endless laughter.

In April, we invited HPHA's Executive Director, Hakim Ouansafi, to speak at our Annual Installation Banquet, which took place at Unlimited Construction’s office in Kakaako. Additionally, we officially launched the HSA Wayne Lincoln Scholarship, which was established in 2023 in collaboration with UH and the College of Engineering. The installation banquet was a memorable event that will not be forgotten anytime soon. If you haven't been attending the Steel Alliance social events, take a look at the photos from the Installation Banquet here. Please mark your calendars and don’t miss another event!

In August, we hosted another successful Wayne Lincoln Scholarship Golf Tournament, which was sold out and well-received. We are grateful for everyone's support. Thanks to the success of this tournament, we are excited to continue offering high-quality events to our members. We are happy to announce that the 2024 tournament sold out in record time, surpassed all our goals, and set a new standard. Stay tuned for details about the 2025 tournament.

In October, we will return to PBX to continue sharing knowledge about HSA and the steel framing industry. If you are planning to attend the show, please stop by and say hello!

Our final membership meeting of the year will take place on October 30th. The event at Natsunoya will feature music, games, and a guest speaker. We hope to see everyone there! We are actively seeking new members, so please encourage younger employees to attend. Don't forget to sign up early to take advantage of the early bird rates.

Thank you for your continued membership and participation in the Hawaii Steel Alliance, along with your trust and confidence in us to carry on with our mission to make steel framing and metal roofing the material of choice. Feel free to reach out anytime with any program ideas or events you would like to see us involved with in the future.

Sincerely,

Jason

Did You Know?

Ferris wheels are predominantly made of steel...if it was aluminum, they'd be non-ferris wheels.

These days, iron and steel are traded on the international commodity market, and if you need some, you just need to contact a trader. Formerly, if you wanted iron or steel, you would need to go to an ironworks or even a blacksmith's and negotiate directly with the men who made it. Whoever smelted, dealt it.
